Domino Records announced the signing of Brookyln-via-Canada duo Bob Moses earlier today, and previewed the lead single “I Ain’t Gonna Be The First To Cry.”
It’s good. Real good. And made me think twice about other Domino-related offerings that I may have dismissed a little too hastily in my life.
During the NBA playoffs I saw the Domino’s Pizza “Failure IS an Option” commercial debuting their Specialty Chicken menu item.
Basically looks like the crap that falls off your pizza and clings to the bottom of the box. I had absolutely no desire to try the intentional blob marketed as food innovation but then I read Nick Rallo’s Food for Thought blog. Now I have a very slight desire, fueled in large part due to the sexbot tracker system.
I never saw the film Domino, although it wasn’t for lack of trying. I think it clung to my DVR for thirteen months straight following a weekend preview of one of the premium movie channels. And apparently Lucy Liu is in it as well. Still… no interest.
But in perusing reasons to watch or not to watch the Keira Knightley bounty hunter flick, I came across Domino Film Ltd, an independent Canadian film distibutor. Aaaaand this little gem:
Impressive: it was an Official Selection of the Costa Rica Terrorfest. Fascinating: there is such a thing as the Costa Rica Terrorfest.
And while I’m blindly surfing about uncovering little known facts about fright fests and horror films, I came across Avey Tare’s Slasher Flicks. Which isn’t a movie at all, but the side project of Animal Collective’s Avey Tare. The LP, Enter the Slasher House, came out on April 7 and the first single is good. Real good.
Oh, and it’s released on Domino Records. Obviously.
